Veracruz is the heart of adventure sports in Central America, and the Carrera de Alseseca is the only whitewater paddling festival of its kind attracting paddlers from all over the world to paddle the beautiful, spring fed rivers pouring off of 18,491 ft. Pico de Orizaba. We will meet in Veracruz and cruise up into the mountains to soak in a huge hot springs which also happens to be our take out for the Antigua River. The Actopan River pours out of a lava flow a little further up into the mountains at Nace del Rio, a nature preserve. After dancing through some of the most beautiful, blue water on earth we will stay at a high altitude lake in the shadow of Cofre de Perote (14,049 ft). The third day we will enjoy locally grown coffee at one of the most extensive ruins, and museums in Mexico then descend into an alpine forrest for lunch where we can paddle the roadside section of the Alseseca River.

The third day we will enjoy locally grown coffee at one of the most extensive ruins, Cantona, then descend into an alpine forest for lunch where we can paddle the roadside section of the Alseseca River. That night we reach our primary base-camp: Aventurec. Here will will get cabins to enjoy the festivities of the week with paddlers from around the globe. In the morning we can enjoy the beautiful Filo-Bobos River and then take in the largest Pyramid in the Region at the ruins of Tajin. The Alto FiloBobos will provide a full day of remote adventure the next day. Finally we will return to do a full run of the Tablazo section of the Alseseca on Friday, and enjoy the festivities there on Saturday including parties on the central square and more back at the camp. We will return to the airport in the morning to get you home with plenty of time to clean up and rest stateside.
